For reasons related to privacy and security, you may want to remove your phone number away from Instagram.
Even if someone has saved your phone number to their contact list, they won’t be able find your account on Instagram if it is not linked to another one.
You might want to remove your phone number because of this. The following guide is for you if you are having trouble removing your phone number from your Instagram account.
How to Remove Phone Number from Instagram
You can do this on your computer or a mobile device by using the Instagram application or the web version. On iOS and Android, the procedure is basically same.
The following section discusses the two methods.
Make sure that Two-Factor Authentication is turned off before removing your phone number from your account.
Here’s how to find out whether it’s turned on or off:
- Select the three horizontal lines visible in the upper-right corner of your profile.
- Choose Security from the Settings menu, then tap Two-Factor Authentication.
- If it’s not setup yet, leave it to itself and proceed with the following procedures.
- Toggle it off by tapping the toggle button if it’s enabled.
You can now go ahead and remove your number off, as follows:
Step 1: Launch the Instagram app, then tap the profile symbol in the lower-right corner to access your profile.
Step 2: Select Edit Profile.
Step 3: At the bottom, select Personal Information Settings.
Ensure you add an email address to your account before deleting your phone number. Enter and confirm your email address in the E-mail Address section if it hasn’t been linked yet. To delete your phone number, you must follow this procedure.
It takes your email address or phone number to link your Instagram account.
Step 4: Press the phone number to remove it from the text field. Next, press the Next button.
Your number will be deleted from your account in that way.
Even after the number has been removed, it occasionally appears in your profile.
Please use your mobile browser to check into your account and verify whether the number has been removed. Press Edit Profile to see if the phone number has been deleted. If not, simply empty the Phone Number text entry and hit Submit.
In a similar manner, use the browser on your PC or computer to log into your account and select Edit Profile. After removing your phone number, press Submit.
